Looking after your roofline is extremely important. A lot of the time, the role and significance of a roofline is overlooked, when in fact it is your roof that is in the first line of defence against any damage as a result of bad weather. It is like a blanket to protect your whole house, and so ensuring that it is stronger is key in maintaining a safe and secure home.

Whilst your roofline is such an integral part of your property and something that needs to be looked after and treated with care and awareness, we wanted to give you a few tips on what makes a stronger roofline…

Get any damage repaired immediately

As your roofline plays such a pivotal role in keeping your house safe, we strongly advise that at the first sign of any sort of damage, no matter how small, you get it repaired straight away. When left, small damage can escalate into something much bigger, leaving you with a dangerous and unsecure house, as well as costly bills. The longer you leave damage, the worse it becomes, and you simply cannot afford to do this when it comes to your roofline.

Invest in higher quality materials

Though it may be more expensive to have higher quality materials used on your roof, it is certainly more cost effective in the long run, and ultimately, it will save you money and prolong the lifespan of your roof. Our most reliable material that we use on all rooflines is PVCu. This is an incredibly durable material, designed to stand the test of time and remain weather resistant and strong so that your roof is protected and the roofline doesn’t weaken.

Clear your gutters

Sometimes, gutters can be a little bit neglected. However, they are actually pretty significant in the structure and condition of your roofline. As they are attached to the roofline, if the gutter becomes damaged or too heavy, this can have a direct negative impact to your roofline, and actually cause some pretty bad damage.

A lot of the time, this is caused by a blockage inside your gutter, which then causes a buildup of rainwater as it cannot pass through the gutters. As a result, this becomes heavy, and can sometimes pull the gutter from the roofline, leaving costly damage and the need for repair. This can also happen if we experience heavy snowfall. If this does not get cleared off your gutters, it becomes too heavy and often causes them to break.

Leave it to the professionals

Rooflines are actually a very complex part of your roof, as they are built up of several different parts and layers. There are fascias, soffits, barge boards to name a few. All are put in place to provide extra support to your roofline. Because of this, you need your roof to be installed and fitted by professionals, who will ensure that everything is in the correct place and built to be strong. Furthermore, they will know the best materials to use in order to provide a stronger roofline for you.
